Is the sponsor at least 18 years old?

Does the sponsor live in Canada?

Was the sponsor themselves sponsored as a spouse/partner and became a PR less than 5 years ago?

Does the sponsor have an active undertaking from a previous spouse/partner sponsorship (less than 3 years since that person became a PR)?

Do any disqualifying factors apply to the sponsor (incarceration, bankruptcy, defaulted payments, certain convictions, removal order, etc.)?

Does the sponsor live in Quebec?

Relationship

Is the relationship genuine (not solely for immigration status)?

Is the sponsored person at least 18 years old?

Sponsored person

Is the sponsored person currently living in Canada with the sponsor?

Does any dependent child have their own dependent child (grandchild)?

Income requirement

Does the income requirement apply (sponsoring a dependent child with their own child, or a spouse/partner whose child has their own child)?

Optional: open work permit

Does the sponsored person want to apply for an open work permit while the PR application is processed?

Fees

Can the sponsor pay the required fees at the time of application?
